3. Configuration

There is a configuration file available in ‘/etc/speechd-up.conf’ or ‘/usr/local/etc/speechd-up.conf’ or similar location based on your instalation.

You can influence such options as the path to the Speakup softsynth device, default language and character encoding set, also some charactersitics of Speechd-Up behaviour. Please read comments provided inside the configuration file to learn what options are available and what are their possible values.
